Arms warrior vs Rogue for newbie : assasinnation ,subtlety or combat

Ok this post is about new Arms warrior, who want to kill those sneaky rogues in BG's or Arena. This is not an advance tutorial, so its for new comers. The tutorial will let you know about common tricks and strategies against assassination, combat or subtlety rogues. This is based on wow 3.5.5a.
This tutorial also covers how a good rogue can shred any warrior to death. So lets start. :)

Q: How to beat Rogues?
A: This question is pretty much wrong, You can't defeat rogues just like that. The key lies in outsmarting Rogue.
Rogues are pretty damn good when it comes to killing people. With so many crowd control options available to them. Its really Difficult to just overpower (pun intended) them.

Q: So What are an Arms warrior Chance against Rogues?
A: So here is the Good news, Arms warrior have many abilities that will make him a killing machine for Rogues. Many Arms warrior love killing rogues. The Most important thing about Arms warrior is their burst damage. Such damage can't be absorbed by a rogue.

Q: Can a Good rogue kill any Arms Warrior?
A: Of course, a rogue who is skilled enough won't even let you touch him (pretty scary right?)
ARMS Warrior Vs Rogues

Choice of Talents:
there are some talents that really really help kill rogues. Like :
  • improved overpower.
  • second wind.
  • blood craze.
  • taste for blood.
Choose any other talent , it really doesn't matters. Your skill and outsmarting the rogue will help you kill him.

Basics:
So how do rogues really work. Most of the rogues are highly dependent upon their stealth. A good rogue will always try to stay in stealth as much as possible, such rogues will try to avoid direct encounter with melee classes.
what to do when :-
Rogue Saps you : You do nothing, sapping won't make you die, instead wait a second , use berserker rage (this will make you come out of sap), immediately use bloodrage (to give you some rage) and use demoralizing shout. If rogue is anywhere near you, it will come out of stealth.

Rogue cheap shots you and starts banging you : Don't Worry as soon as you get cheapshot, second wind will proc and you will start regenerating your health (10% of your health + some rage). Most rogues won't be able to take you down such ways (if you stay in defensive stance you will take even less damage from rogues attack). DON'T USE TRINKET. save the trinket when rogue kidney-shots you.

Rogue blinds you after kidney shots : Most good rogues won't let you touch them, before you can think and trinket out of the Kidney shot, they will blind you and will restealth, but don't worry you still have berserker regeneration to get most of your health back.

Ok I got rogue out of stealth, Now What? : This is the fun part, when a rogue gets out of stealth, he will start doing some crazy stuff. Unlike really good rogues, most inexperienced rogue will start a head to head fight, and this is where you will crush a rogue.
REND the rogue, that's it. and get ready to OVERPOWER rogue. Rogues usually have a high amount of dodge, so when you hit and he dodges. The overpower will proc. OVERPOWER with talent can crit like nuts. Also as REND ticks it will also proc overpower. Ensure that the rogue has REND thats it. Don't worry about MORTAL STRIKE, it costs ways high (unless you have good amount of rage). A Rogue with REND on him is almost dead. BLADESTORM when he is like 50%. Keep him away from getting into stealth.

What can go wrong : Well that sounded like real easy, but with good rogues what can go wrong.
a good rogue will :
  • try to stay in stealth as much as he can.
  • If opened, will gouge you and run back to stealth.
  • Dismantle you (disarm) and go back to stealth.
  • Blind you and go back to stealth.
  • Criple you with poison and stay at a safe range that you cant attack, neither you can charge.
  • Bleed you to death , rather then stunning you.
Dont hesitate to use your cooldowns like shield wall, once a rogue gets intimidated , its really easy to shred him to death.

Fury Warrior for PvP WoW 3.5.5a

It hardly matters what kind of specs are you playing with warrior. Its well known that an ARMS warrior is all PvP , and I respect that attitude. But Looking at some other tree, there are some great combination that can be put through. Here I will discuss FURY as a potential PvP class. For those who want to yell and make ARMS the only PvP choice, should stick around.
(P.S : All discussion is based on WoW 3.5.5a, but it hardly matters cause I am not going to talk about specs any ways)

Q: So why FURY as PvP?

A: Recently I was checking my raid specs (which is fury) , and I got Challenged by my friend (holy pala). For fun purpose I just dualed with PvP gear+ Fury Talent (inclined towards raid, more on that later). I was quite surprised, FURY talent also got him pwned a few times , before he got frustrated and left. I should tell you , its really hard to take down a good holy pala. But I was all over him with huge brust damage.

Q: Why Should one play as FURY when he can PvP with ARMS?

A: Well I know, ARMS is like the insane killing machine spec, but there are good PvP talents that can support FURY for PvP.

Q: So what are key facts that relate to FURY PvP?

A : Obviously there will some thing that won't be present when you pick fury, and sometimes that is bad. So here is what will you loose when you try to PvP as FURY :

BladeStorm : Ohhhh.. Noessss !!! Yeah I know, like all the ARMS warrior , I love BladeStorm too. This ability is like a grinder in which pro healer can also get crunched really bad.

Mortal Strike : Yeah .. but you get a passive mortal strike like effect, so loosing it is not that bad.

Juggernaut : yeah this one sucks... Juggernaut is a great talent, but there is a good news for FURY with a talent that refreshes intercept and removes snare.
So what are the gains?
Over all damage increase : with great talents like improved berserker stance + enrage. Over all damage is increased.
Fury Warrior PvP
More stamina for PvP : Titan grip provides extra stats for PvP, which is not bad at all.
High Crit : combine cruelty + rampage= more crits  (go for axe specialization and remove titan grip=even more crits).
Yes if you remove titan grip which will basically give you extra stats and increase whilwind damage, won't hurt your dps that much. Since offhand weapon damage is really low (even with dual wield specialization.)
So here we are a FURY warrior with following basic talents :
  • Poleaxe specialization.(5% crit+ 5% crit damage).
  • Impale (20% crit damage).
  • Cruelty (5% crit).
  • Improved berserker Stance (More Attack power).
  • Rampage (5% more crits).
  • Unrelenting Attacks (passive mortal strike).
  • Unrelenting Fury (Snare Remove).
These talents would give a FURY warrior enough damage to overpower most classes. But You loose following :
  • Improved overpower (50% more chance on overpower to crit).
  • Bladestorm.
  • Hamstring snare (very handy for immobilizing the target).
  • Juggernaut.
When you are PvPing as Fury then you will mostly be in Berserker Stance. So no overpower there, but Your attacks gone hit very hard on targets with huge crits. If you are really tired of playing ARMS, try this. ;)

How to Be The Best Arms Warrior in Arena

How to be at your Best when Playing Arms Warrior? If you are tired of loosing in Arena and Your Healer partner is cursing you, You are at right place. Here we will learn about the art of dominating the opponents in Arena. If you are a beginner in arena, or beginning PvP for the first time, or have enough experience playing BG's and want to learn to play better at Arena, well its your lucky day. The post is not about macro guides or addon features. So you might wanna hang around a little.
So how to perfect your game in Arena so that your partner doesn't curse you.
This time we will discussing the Arms warrior Class. This class is one of my favourite when it comes to PvP.
So Lets Start.
Question: Do an Arms warrior need macros to be good at Arena?

The Answer is Yes and No.
Yes : Because Macros can give your fellow players many advantages. Yes you read it right !!! Macros can help your healers out. How? We get to it later.
No: Well warriors don't need much of a Macros with good co-ordinations and good skills , your macro needs should be minimum.
So lets go straight to the point.

Question: What macros do a Arms Warrior need?

Ans : Macro to Switch Stance with weapon change. That's it.
You will be surprised, warrior need only one macro that switches stance and equips right weapon. So when you switch stance and go defensive, he has a sword and a shield in his hands, and when he switches back to Arms or Berserker he has his Fav. 2H weapon. I won't talk how to do this. You  can Google to get such macros.

Question: What about helping your partner? How I do that?

Ans : The best way to help your healer is to tell him. So talk to him directly. This simplifies lots of thing. You don't have to type in chat. Just tell him on Skype that your a** is being burned down and you need help. That will always help you. So get a VOIP software like Skype. If you don't have the luxury of talking then you will have to do some modifications to your spells. The best idea is to attach notifications to your spells. So when you cast Bladestorm , your partner gets a message on his chat like "---BladeStorm Launched----".
This is easy to do in Macro (/p ---BladeStorm----- /cast Bladestorm). What this will do that even if your healer doesnt see you go in bladestorm , he can check his chat  and look at this. Similarly if you used trinket , just let him know that you have used your trinket.
Best Arms Warrior

Question : What Addons do an Arms Warrior need?

Ans: The addon need should be minimum. I figured that any addon that can tell you that your opponent is going to cast a spell ( spell alerter) is enough. You don't need to fill your screen with tons of addons.

Question: What is the Good for PvP?  2H mace, Axe, Polearm or Sword?

Ans: It hardly matters. If you have a good weapon and right specialization. All weapon tend to end up same. But yeah an Arms warrior running with a Huge Axe sure looks scary ;)

Guide :
Get the right Equipment
Well before you start to PvP in World of warcraft it is important to understand the hardware you are using. To emphasize this point I will tell you a very funny story that happened once when I was in arena. To start with, me and my druid healer Inxy (stupid name) were having a go at Warlock- Priest 2300 (may be 2400) rating Team. We almost crushed the opponent and then the bizarre thing happened. My Mouse wheel wasn't rotating. It was funny cause I told my healer  "Hey bro my mouse wheel just died ". He was like "Ok, Fix it after the match. LOL". But he didn't knew that my wheel had Overpower and Execute Mapped to it. Yeah We Lost.
So the Next day I had one of these SteelSeries Rival Optical Gaming Mouse. This mouse had perfect features, enough buttons (not too many) and was made for heavy usage.
On a funny note try using your stock mouse on Diablo 2 for one month (most mouse die out). Most mouse aren't designed for heavy usage. I will be true to you guys, I never liked mouse with so many buttons. My friends has one with 9 buttons (seriously bizarre considering we use only 2 fingers for mouse . Ok on with the topic.
Staying positive:
You know why most newbie get pawned at arena , cause they get scared very easily. One thing to remember is that you can't win all the time. even the most elite players get owned, so its not a big deal. I always laugh with my healer how his a** got pawned while I was bandaging myself. Once player get scared they start to do silly things like using random attacks or using cooldowns at wrong times etc. Which is definitely not good, so keeping it calm can get you best results. People with good ratings like 2400+ are already confidant enough and very calm. That makes things worse for people who watch them come (and loose it all). So First thing is Stay Positive.
Know your Enemy :
This is the thing elite players are good at. They know their opponent class very well. They know what will happen when the class goes below 20% health, or what will they do if I stunned them at 50% (stuff like that). The best thing is practice. Practice PvP with your fellow players . Know other classes, what kind of spell they have, how often they can be used, what are their OMG powers. If you can pummel a shaman's heal right at 10% you know that he is dead.
Learn to intimidate enemies:
Warrior with their burst dps can bring OMG, WTF or MAY DAYY like situations to opponents, which forces them to use their Cool Downs. Like Paladin's bubble. Its always a good sign. So don't just go berserk on opponent with bursting all your cool downs , just intimidate them enough to force them use their cooldowns. So you can catch them off guard with your rage at 100 with bladestorm at your bag and their healer running with 40% health (Oooo.... yummy).
Learn to use your Cool Downs :
Now this is very important. Learn to use your Cooldowns , don't just go pushing your cooldowns when you know that your opponent can't be killed. Don't save your cool downs if your are going to die. Learn to couple your attacks with right timings. So when I use Bladestorm, I check if the class is going to say OMG when I hit Bladestorm. Learn to predict your attacks damage, that way it will be very easy to check when to use BladeStorm. Always couple Bladestorm  with sweeping  Strikes. I know it takes 60 rage to do that but thats what puts hole in a paladins armour.  Tell your healer to bring opponents dps to the warrior when he uses Bladestorm, so both can get damage. and this Strategy works like a charm. Both healer and dps get pwned by Bladestorm. Learn to use intervene , so you can get out of scary situations back to healer. Learn to LOS. If you are good at hiding so that others can't target you, you win half the battle.
Adjust your keyboard keys so that you don't need to click on Action bar
Yeah its true. Clicking wastes time. But if you like clicking and if it doesn't harm your game, you are free to do that. But just think, keys like :
1,2,3,4
tab,q,e,r
        f
     c
these keys should be enough for most of the spells. Combine these with Mouse wheel up and Mouse wheel Down and you have a good non clicking action bar. I use Mouse wheel up and Mouse wheel down for most frequent attacks like Overpower and Execute.
Always stick to one type of keyboard setting, this will increase your reflexes, so you don't have to think what key to press to Execute an opponent, or what key to press to go to defensive stance. with practice your brain will easily adept to the setting and then you can just go without looking at action bar.
